I was glad to see Simon Burgess, the leader of Brighton and Hove City Council, demonstrating his support for local health services at the recent health summit.
Our council can play an important role in halting closures of accident and emergency and maternity facilities by letting the Health Secretary know the consequences for local people whose lives and health will be endangered.
The Royal Sussex County Hospital cannot afford to lose 500 jobs and 109 beds with the local population growing at such a rate.
