We frequently visit friends in Hove and for the past few years have been treated to Sussex Voiceworks' concerts locally. We have always enjoyed these choral concerts but the Christmas Concert on Saturday, December 16 was such a pleasure that we wanted to make a more public statement of appreciation.
The programme was a delight from start to finish, performed with feeling and obvious enjoyment by the singers. There was strong support from the excellent pianist and organist and the soprano soloist had a most beautiful, clear voice.
Everyone enjoyed the rousing and amusing interludes from the brass quintet, Mardi Brass, and judging by the lusty singing, we were not the only ones who relished joining in the audience carols.
Many thanks to all involved in putting on the concert, and congratulations to Sussex Voiceworks' energetic and engaging musical director for producing such a tremendous pre-Christmas treat.
We have already noted in our diaries to be free for the choir's engagement in the Brighton Festival and hope to be free for its June concert at All Saints church.
