There is a dire need for bicycles to be fitted with rear-view mirrors.

The attachments to the handle-bars must be of practical design; the mirror high with maximum clear vision for the rider and able to be folded down across the handle bars to avoid damage when not being used.

A rear-view mirror would provide road safety for the rider because of the recognition of the type of vehicle approaching from behind and deciding if avoidance is necessary.

It would also be reassuring to motorists, knowing that a bicycle rider is able to recognise the position of a following vehicle.
