I watched the film Into the Arms of Strangers last September and have recently watched it again.
It is sad beyond all calculation.
It was a terrifying experience for all of them but in my opinion those who were that bit older suffered even more because their memories of other experiences and of their parents was obviously stronger. Some have never been able to get over it.
What annoyed me was to hear of certain males who, on reaching 16, were interned why? They came here in fear, not to try to help a nation which had persecuted them. They did not deserve to be pushed from one strange place to the other.
The Government apologised but that cannot alter what happened to them. Although not infant when they came, they were young and their youth was taken away from them in a cruel manner.
