As a resident of Mid Sussex, I tried to speak at the district council meeting on Wednesday, December 13, after my letters to members of the cabinet were unanswered.
I complied with the council's constitution, putting my question in writing before the cut-off time and asking, in view of the lack of response from councillors, if my case could go before a committee.
I received a letter from the head of democratic services (surely a title that could be challenged under the Trade Descriptions Act!) stating my letter was a request and not a question and would therefore not be permitted.
Perhaps Mid Sussex District Council would like to tell me how many polite requests can be made before they become questions that require answers?
I would like to personally thank Councillors Paddy Henry and Richard Bates who tried to speak on my behalf at the meeting but were told they were "out of order".
