A robbery that saw an elderly man targeted by a gang is being linked to a series of other raids which have taken place in the area over the past two months.

The latest robbery took place in Upper Horsebridge, near Hailsham, on the main A271 road near the Cuckoo Trail, at 7.30pm on Wednesday.

Sussex Police said four or five offenders forced their way into the home of an elderly person and stole cash and jewellery.

The previous offences were carried out during November at locations near to the A22.

Wealden District Commander Chief Inspector Neil Honnor said: "This is an appalling attack on an elderly man. I am convinced that somebody will have witnessed something, have information to give or recognise the man in an e-fit.

"Thankfully these are very rare cases, but it is essential that we catch this group as soon as possible."

The man in the e-fit has mid-length shaggy hair and prominent dark eyebrows.

Detectives are urging anyone with any information or who was on the A271 near Upper Horsebridge around 7.30pm on Wednesday to contact Uckfield CID on 0845 60 70 999, or anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
