Trains through Clayton Tunnel were delayed while the controlled explosion was carried out
AN ARMY bomb disposal unit was called to Clayton Hill earlier today after workmen found a buried mortar outside a house.
They were called at midday after the device was discovered in Pyecombe.
After examining the three inch device they carried out a controlled explosion at the scene.
The A273 was closed and trains were delayed while the incident was dealt with.
