I am writing to give some very positive publicity to the Royal Sussex County Hospital.

On Christmas Day at 2.30am, I awoke with extremely bad chest pains and had great difficulty breathing. My wife called immediately for an ambulance.

The paramedics arrived and acted swiftly, confidently and with great professionalism. They put both our minds at ease as they set to work giving me the medical attention I needed.

I was then taken to the Accident and Emergency department of the Royal Sussex County Hospital.

Once again, all members of staff were highly skilled.

There was no waiting around and I was given the medication and the tests I required.

It was then time to be admitted to the ward. The transition from Accident and Emergency up to the cardiac ward went smoothly and without any delays.

My stay on the cardiac ward lasted a week. During this time I cannot fault any member of the hospital staff, including porters, cleaners, nurses and doctors.

I was treated in a polite and respectful manner. I thank them for all the care and attention they gave to myself and my family.

This could have been the worst Christmas of our lives but, due to the experience of excellent medical attention I received, it was not the case.

An important thought I wish to leave you with is to remember that people who work in hospitals save lives. They need to be recognized for the importance of their invaluable work.
