Southern rail has applied to Brighton and Hove City Council to remove a ramp at Brighton Station which it built less than two years ago.
The changes to the access road in the East Wing of the station are being sought after the station’s access officer identified the “safety issue”.
The train operator plans to replace the ramp with two ramps on either side.
There are also plans to repair a faulty canopy which allows water to leak on to the station floor, making it slippery.
The planning application is also for two “maps for all” information boards for partially-sighted passengers in the main concourse and to the left of the main entrance.
There are also plans to build a new retail storage unit in the style of existing timber clad huts.
