As burly Canadian frontman Wade MacNeil triumphantly strutted on stage, and the gut-wrenching buzz of the amp started up, the entire crowd were ready for a punk show. They were not disappointed.
Crowd-surfing, sweat and screwed-up faces were all common place during this gig. Yet part of this energetic feeling must be attributed to the fantastic support band, Crooks. Their completely uninhibited performance truly got the crowd riled up for the main act.
Very different from the original line-up, minus both the previous singer and guitarist, Gallows still played some of their best loved tracks to the adoring Brighton audience; including In The Belly Of The Shark and Orchestra Of Wolves. MacNeil, formerly of Alexisonfire, delivered them well - even attempting an English accent at times.
Everyone left the gig with smiles on their faces and a dull humming in their ears; some with bruises from the crush, others with whiplash from head-banging. War-wounded or not, it was an evening of harmless, loud and brilliant fun.
