VOLUNTEER drivers will be taking over the reins at Brighton’s most famous railway.
The Volk’s Electric Railway will hand over the keys of the railway operation to volunteers from Volk’s Electric Railway Association (VERA).
A training programme for volunteer drivers will ensure they are competent in handling and controlling the cars.
Ian Gledhill, Chairman of VERA, said: “The recently announced Heritage Lottery grant could mean the operation of a more intensive service from 2017, so it is important that we work with the Council to ensure that our drivers reach the highest level of skill.”
This will be the fourth time this year that volunteers from VERA will have control of the railway.
The later service will begin at 5pm and finish at 8pm and frequency of the cars will depend on the weather.
