In yesterday’s edition of The Argus, headlines stated Worst month on roads in years (A recent crash on the A27 is pictured below).

It seems pretty obvious to me, and I am sure others, that there is only one cause for the figures. There is simply no-one out there on the roads to stop the speeding, idiotic drivers of which there are too many, and general dangerous and careless driving.

Once, not too long ago, one would see and be cautious of traffic police out there, waiting to catch the idiots.

Now there are barely enough police to cover anything and they simply have to prioritise every call – life threatening or otherwise.

Roads policing is a thing of the past, and every idiotic driver who wishes to behave dangerously and stupidly can do so without much fear of being caught.

Speed limits? Totally ignored by many. Care and consideration? A thing of the past. I am not sure it is even taught at driver schools now.

With no deterrent, the idiot will always push his/her limits, and accidents do not even cross their minds.
