A SPORTING icon is heading to Sussex to talk about coming out as gay.
Wales and Lions legend Gareth Thomas will be at The Old Market in Brighton to talk about his book Proud: My Autobiography on September 21.
The man affectionately known as Alfie racked up 100 international caps during a stellar career, but the guilt of hiding his sexuality almost drove him to suicide.
In his conversation with his co-writer Michael Calvin he will give an insight into how the only place he felt he could be himself was on a rugby field.
Tickets are available from www.theoldmarket.com or by calling the box office on 01273 201 801.
