Mr Collins mentions a modest £50 fine in Shoreham (The Argus letters. August 13). The maximum penalty in Brighton & Hove for illegal cycling on the promenade is £500.
I have noticed that the number of rogue cyclists on the Hove promenade has significantly increased over the past couple of years.
This I believe is because the council fails to enforce its byelaws on cycling.
How many prom cyclists did Brighton & Hove council prosecute last year? Zero I fear.
I now have a permanent injury as a result of a prom cyclist.
There is a public interest issue here because someone could be killed on the seafront by a cyclist.
