She begins writing for a new magazine launching in October and here gives Women Actually followers of fashion a few tips on what to wear this autumn.

EVER since we saw Carrie Bradshaw showcase the boyfriend jeans, over-sized coat and trail of fur, we’ve been obsessed to see what each of our winter wardrobes will potentially entail.

Designers presented an assortment of different themes for Autumn/Winter (AW) 14 and, while we might be in awe of the AW items that are now blooming within the exclusive industry, we’re not in awe of the price tag.

Luckily, the high-street stores have taken inspiration from the designer catwalks and this is exemplified through the items that are finally now available to purchase without breaking the bank.

A winter coat is the fundamental piece in any wardrobe, and this season we are stunned with choice. Pastels are still going strong for AW14, as are muted tones of grey, navy and beige. A high street store that is particularly popular in supplying us with a coat that has a ‘designer look and feel’ for a fraction of the cost is Zara. If Zara’s newest coat collection fails to appeal to you, Marks & Spencer, River Island, Whistles and Mango also have a gorgeous range with prices varying from £65 to £250.

Regarding the catwalks this season, the most welcomed style was the ‘blanket’, otherwise known as the cape.

Similarly to coats, these are going to be big. Have you ever had one of those days where your only wish is to turn up to work wrapped in your duvet? If so, this trend is perfect for you. Cara Delevingne modelled Burberry, in stores for £895, but if like me this is out of your budget, some faultless high street substitutions can be found at Topshop, ASOS, Marks & Spencer and River Island.
