As the celebrations for Older People's Day continues, a party and a morning of advice is taking place today.

The event is taking place at Christ Church in Bentswood at 10.30am.

From free electric blanket tests, balance, hearing and blood pressure tests to fire alarms and movement sensors, there’s a plethora of things to check and all in one place and on one day. And there are lots of hands on help to get you skype-ing, internet shopping and a host of modern communication mediums to prove it’s not just the young who are up to date.

The day is being organised via the Bentswood Community Partnership (BCP), which aims to promote the thriving Bentwood area and make life good for all of the residents and is supported by the Mid Sussex Older People’s Council, the West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service, Age UK, West Sussex County Council, Action for Deafness, Mid Sussex Wellbeing and the Southern Co-operative.

BCP chairman Stephen Hillier is so grateful to all who have supported the celebration and said: “Bentswood is a flourishing community with lots going on and it is so important that we support our older residents too.

“So I do hope everyone will come and, with winter around the corner, it’s good to make sure we’re all in good shape - not to mention well connected."
