A LIFEBOAT man who led a search crew through severe conditions to try to find a missing boy is being honoured once again.
Coxswain Paul Legendre, based at the Newhaven Lifeboat Station, will receive The Lady Swaythling Trophy from the Shipwrecked Mariners’ Society.
He is expected to be presented with the award by its patron, HRH The Princess Royal.
On October 27 last year a crew of seven led by Mr Legendre battled five metre breaking waves as they searched.
The crew persevered for six hours but despite their outstanding efforts the teenager could not be found.
Mr Legendre will receive his award at The Charity’s Skill and Gallantry Awards on October 7 at Fishmongers’ Hall in London.
