A hospice has appointed a new boss.
Imelda Glackin has taken up the role of chief executive of the Martlets in Wayfield Avenue, Hove.
She replaces Caroline Lower, who left earlier this year.
Ms Glackin has 25 years' experience of working in health, both in the NHS and the voluntary sector.
She joined the Martlets in 2003, initially as the co-ordinator for the Hospice@Home service.
She was later promoted to director of service development and deputy chief executive.
Hospice chairman Michael Edwards said: “Martlets staff and volunteers know that Imelda has a very hands on style of management, is a visible presence, and pursues an inclusive leadership approach.
“It is well known that patient care has a permanent place at the top of her agenda.
“For all these reasons, the board of trustees is confident Imelda can provide both the strength and style of leadership to enable the Martlets to thrive in the future.”
The hospice is not part of the NHS and so relies on the support of the community to continue to develop its vital services.
