What an utterly ridiculous idea to have registration numbers for cyclists.
I’ve been an avid cyclist for many years and average 150 miles per week. Yes I’m one of the people who stop at red lights, pedestrian crossings.
I’m the one who will chase a cyclist who doesn’t. I’m the one who gets grief off drivers for what others do. But what good would a registration plate do for a cyclist?
Do the car drivers who break the law by going through a red get prosecuted? Do the drivers who daily use their phones whilst driving get prosecuted? Do drivers who have no insurance, MoT, VED and even no driving license get prosecuted?
These drivers are way more of a risk than a cyclist going through a red light.
I don’t condone these cyclists, in fact, I despise them. They give me, a law abiding rider a bad name. Having to register my bike would not achieve anything.
Mrs Bourne would do well to chase and prosecute people who routinely break the law.
