I endorse Neil Kelly’s letter (Argus, September 27) concerning the Older People’s Council.
I was a member of the core group of the older people’s coalition which set the ground work for the OPC for Brighton & Hove.
Unfortunately, over the past few years it has proved ineffectual.
Initially, we had Paul Martin, the adult services officer for the council, who was the link with the council and proved effective.
With Paul going the link weakened and, like Neil Kelly said, it became merely a talk shop.
The OPC is nothing like the original blueprint I and others worked to.
Publicity appears non-existent and, looking at the original manifesto, the OPC has deviated considerably.
