DOG lovers will have the chance to pamper their pooch on the go as the country’s first dog “car wash” is coming to Sussex.

Macs DIY Dog Wash service, based in Haywards Heath, have snapped up exclusive rights to distribute the self-service dog wash stations and will install their first in Haywards Heath next month.

The doggy showers feature washing and drying facilities along with a range of shampoos, conditioners and defleaing.

Pet owners can insert cash or credit cards into the unit and buy time at the station to keep their canine companion clean and tidy.

A spokesman for Macs DIY Dog Wash said: “The service has been very successful in the states and down under and we have got exclusive rights to introduce the stations across Europe.

“I live in an apartment and to get dogs into the shower is just ridiculous. With our service it is a bit like a car wash and you can get them clean within minutes. You can take a little dog to a massive dog in there and give them a wash.

“You can give them a quick wash and blow dry without having to wait at a groomer and it is done within minutes. The dogs love it, the water is warm and the instructions are easy to read.”

The first station will be installed at the Pet and Garden Warehouse in Haywards Heath from November 10.

The cost of the wash will be £5 for the first seven minutes and extra coins can be inserted if more time is required.

The first ten customers will get their dog a free wash and dry.
