A DEFIBRILLATOR has been installed at a rugby club.
The Uckfield and District Lions Club presented the equipment to Uckfield Rugby Club Founding Fathers.
The defibrillator is positioned in the clubhouse, in the ground floor changing room.
The club can have as many as 1,000 people at the ground and has welcomed the additional safety equipment.
The Lions club worked with Uckfield Rotary Club to fund the project.
It is the fourth defibrillator installed by the Lions in Uckfield and two more are planned for the high street – one of which is being funded by Wealden district councillor Claire Dowling from a development fund allowance, a Lions spokesman said.
Bob Eaves, Lions president, said: “A horrendous number of people die unnecessarily from heart attacks – if these save only one person, the cost is worth it.”
He thanked Uckfield residents for their continued support towards their activities and said they hope to work with the rotary club on more projects.
