Who would be a councillor with responsibility for planning in Brighton and Hove?

It doesn’t seem that a week passes without a major development with a turbulent history and numerous issues.

This week it is the turn of the regeneration of the city’s seafront to come under the microscope with new plans to create four fashionable eateries and a private members club.

Residents are unhappy about the visual impact of the buildings and it is set to be a heated issue in the run-up to its expected conclusion at the end of the month.

The plans do sound exciting and who would not want to see the already delicious menu of eating options that the city offers extended further.

It is also generally agreed that such a key site so close to the city centre and Palace Pier cannot look as tired as it does currently in a city that prides itself as a seaside tourist attraction.

But it is clear that many are still to be convinced that the current proposal is the right fit to solve a puzzle that has waited years for the right answer.
