It was quite distressing to see the damage caused to Hollingbury meadows after the latest invasion of travellers.
Friends of Hollingbury Woods have put in many hours of work to enhance the environment and much of this was destroyed.
The hazel hedge was broken by vehicles, part of the butterfly bank planted with native flowers was driven over and flattened and deep ruts were left in the grass.
It is unacceptable that there are never any prosecutions for criminal damage.
The inhabitants of Brighton and Hove are thoroughly fed up with this ongoing problem. Next year we have council elections and it would be encouraging to know if any prospective candidates have the invasions on their agenda.
