A SEAFRONT landmark was bathed in red to mark World Aids Day.

The Brighton Wheel made a striking image as the lights were switched earlier this evening in honour of all those around the world who have lost their lives to the virus.

The tribute was among several held across Brighton and Hove, including an exhibition at the Jubilee Library, a service of hope and remembrance at Dorset Gardens Methodist Church and an hour-long candlelit vigil at the Aids Memorial in New Steine Gardens.

Charities and health bosses want to promote the importance of getting tested for the HIV virus so people, if diagnosed, can start treatment as soon as possible.

Brighton and Hove has one of the highest rates of HIV in the country outside of London.
