A LUCKY couple who won a wedding competition through The Argus have tied the knot at the Hilton Brighton Metropole.

Daniel and Sasha Scully from Peacehaven won £18,000 worth of prizes towards their wedding earlier this year.

The new Mr and Mrs Scully spent the past six months working closely with Chelsey Armstrong-Trigg, their dedicated wedding planner at the Hilton Brighton Metropole, and other local suppliers, to make sure their wedding day on Saturday was perfect.

The couple met 15 years ago at Tideway Sixth Form.

Daniel proposed last year when they trekked to Annapurna Base Camp in Nepal in aid of Cancer Research.

They entered The Argus Win A Wedding competition and won with a staggering 1,233 votes.

Sasha said: “When Daniel proposed after our five-day trek, we never expected it would be possible for us to get married the following year.”

Daniel said: “We had to wait for The Argus to come out before discovering we had won. I couldn’t believe it when I saw our faces in there.”

Sasha added: “We jumped around and woke up everyone in the house to tell them our fantastic news.”

Their invitations were designed by Sussex-based company Wedding In A Teacup and featured wintery reindeer and red flowers which gave guests a first glimpse of the festive-themed ceremony.

The vibe continued on the day with stunning seasonal flowers from Ginger Lily Florists and a Christmas tree.

Sasha enjoyed the drive from her Peacehaven home to the venue in Brighton with her dad in the back of a 1931 Rolls Royce.

Daniel said: “Having our photos taken by the car and on the bandstand as the sun set was another amazing experience for us both.”

Professional photographer Darren Cool captured images of the day from start to finish, including some stunning shots as the sun was setting.

Daniel said: “Darren was incredible. Right through from the pre-wedding photoshoot to the wedding, he made us feel relaxed with the photos and tried many different ideas and locations.

“He was very passionate about his work and we are confident he captured some amazing photos of our wedding. We are really looking forward to seeing the snaps.”

After an intimate ceremony in the hotel’s Ambassador Suite, where the couple exchanged vows and rings from Brighton-based Wedding Rings Direct, guests enjoyed champagne and canapés in the adjoining Sandringham Room while the couple went off for some pictures around Brighton.

The beautiful bride wore an elegant, beaded dress from Ocean Bridal Studio, a vintage number which was complemented with a white fur stole and satin gloves.

The groom, best men and ushers were suited in tails from Moss Bros Hire in Hove, with red accessories to match the bridesmaids’ red bouquets.

The Hilton served a three-course wedding breakfast of Portobello mushroom with stilton, lamb and seasonal vegetables and a banana and Baileys crème brulee.

Each guest was given a lottery ticket at the table in the hope that the couple’s good luck would rub off.

Before the couple took to the dance floor, there was the cutting of the cake – a three-tier creation by Ginny of Mamma Gz bakery, which featured red berries and pink and white buttercream.

After their big day, the couple said: “Chelsey, our wedding planner at the Hilton Brighton Metropole, was so helpful throughout the planning process and the day itself.

“She was always on hand to help us with any problems or questions we had and, because of her, everything ran smoothly.”

This March, the newlyweds will be heading off on their honeymoon, courtesy of Red 7 Holidays.

They will spending seven nights on the Caribbean island of St Lucia, followed by a weekend in Miami, before boarding a special St Patrick’s Day celebratory cruise around the Bahamas, where some of their favourite Irish musicians will perform.

The couple said: “We are both extremely excited about our honeymoon and are looking forward to mixing relaxing days with party nights.”

Dan and Sasha have been writing a wedding planning journal for The Argus website, which can be read at www.theargus.co.uk/winawedding.
