Hundreds of dancers took to the stage as groups from across the county were given the limelight to show off their footwork.

Adults and children from dozens of dance groups were the centre of attention at Brighton and Hove Dance Active 2014.

The event was arranged by Brighton and Hove City Council’s Active For Life project and took place at Hove Town Hall.

This year’s event saw the addition of young adults with learning difficulties from the Spiral Sussex charity performing in a group called Flashback Dance Crew and a West African-inspired dance and fitness group called Azontobeats.

The evening was compered by popular dance instructor JP Omari and his award-winning group Stereoshok also wowed the crowd.

Councillor Sue Shanks, chairwoman of Brighton and Hove Children and Young People Committee, said: “This is the third time the city’s dancers have come together to celebrate their achievements on stage in this way.

“Dance is not only great fun – it is good exercise too.

“Dance Active is an excellent evening which highlights the talent and dedication of all involved with dance in Brighton and Hove.

“I am always impressed by the quality of acts on the programme.”
