POWER cables have been brought down in a car crash.

Two cars were involved in the crash on the B2192 The Broyle between Ringmer and Halland at about 6am today.

One of the cars, driven by a 27-year-old Lewes man, cut through a pole carrying the cables before slamming into a ditch.

The other vehicle was driven by a 49-year-old man from East Dean, near Eastbourne, who was with a 46-year-old passenger from Eastbourne.

There were no serious injuries, police said. The road is expected to be closed to traffic for most of today while engineers repair the damaged pole.
