A 13-YEAR-OLD school girl from Hove has added another star studded encounter to her roster after she interviewed stars from the Christmas comedy Get Santa.

Lily Sitzia, 13, took to the red carpet to interview actor Rafe Spall and film director Christopher Smith about their new film at the press day in London.

The Hove Park student attended a preview screening of the film, which was released in cinemas on Friday, to help her prepare questions before meeting the stars.

Lily got to quiz them about riding the sleigh in the film, what makes Jim Broadbent a convincing Santa and what sets British Christmas films a part from American ones, as well as challenging them to name all of Santa’s reindeer.

The youngster said: “They were really nice and chatty and everything went really well – they answered my questions really well and I had a nice time. Doing the interviews has made me very excited for Christmas – it’s a good Christmas film.”

The opportunity came as part of her role as a junior reporter for education charity Into Film, which enables young people to learn about the film industry, contributing to their cultural, creative and personal development. It is supported by the British Film Institute with Lottery funding.

A young pupil-turned-reporter from Worthing has also been back in action reporting from the red carpet at the 2014 BAFTA Children’s Awards with Into Film, the nationwide education charity that helps young people learn through and about film.

Last month, 11-year-old Orchards Community Middle School pupil Olivia was whisked off to the Roundhouse in Camden to get an all access pass to the BAFTA Children’s Awards.

She interviewed stars such as Les Misérables actress Samantha Barks, CBBC presenter Iain Stirling, streetdancer and star of All Stars Akai, actor and comedian Doc Brown, TV presenter and Strictly Come Dancing Star Steve Backshall, and TV duos Dick and Dom and Sam and Mark.

Olivia said: “The whole experience was magical from start to finish.

“When I first got there I started a list of all the famous people I spotted but I had to give up after half an hour because there were so many.

“I was surprised at how much hard work and preparation goes into organising a big event like the BAFTAs.

“My favourite part was announcing the winners for the BAFTA Kids Awards. It was an amazing day.”
