A 68-year-old man needed hospital treatment after being pushed to the pavement as he left an ice cream parlour.

The unprovoked attack happened in Marine Parade, Eastbourne just after 2.30pm yesterday.

The victim was confronted by another man who pushed him over causing him to bump his head.

The 68-year-old had just left Fusardi's ice cream parlour with his wife to walk towards the pier and ended up needing treatment at Eastbourne District General Hospital.

His attacker is described as a man in his 20s or 30s, 5'8", of medium build, clean shaven, and with short dark brown hair.

He was wearing a black three-quarter length coat and black trousers.

He was seen to walk away in the direction of Seaside and the town centre.

Several people went to the victim's aid and police would like to speak to them and to anyone else who may have seen what happened or who has other relevant information.
