A MAN was killed when he was hit by a train.
He was struck by the 11.32am Brighton to Ashford service as it was passing through Cooden Beach Station at 12.30pm today.
Southern Railway believes there were about 70 people on board the train at the time.
British Transport Police (BTP) along with officers from Sussex Police and South East Coast Ambulance were at the scene.
The man’s age is not known at this time.
The train went to Collington Station, where the passengers were met by a station manager.
Buses are now in operation between Eastbourne and Hastings.
A rail shuttle service is in place between Hastings and Ashford International.
A spokesman for BTP said: “The incident is not being treated as suspicious and our officers are now working to identify the man and inform his family.
“A file will be prepared for the coroner.”
