TEN couples got to tie the knot all at the same time yesterday as the law finally allowed civil partners to get married.

In a heart-warming celebration of diversity and progress the ten couples all became officially married at the Brighton Town Hall registry office.

Brighton and Hove is always known as one of the UK’s most forward-thinking cities and once again we showed we live up to our reputation.

Marriage equality in this country is something that is long overdue and now we have crossed the final hurdle.

Finally everyone has the opportunity to express their love and be officially be called a married couple, enjoying all the same privileges and rights heterosexual couples do.

One of the couples had been together since when homosexuality was still illegal so seeing them being able to openly express their love is nothing short of touching.

But both in this country and globally there is still ground to be won for the rights of LGBT people.
