SAM Mangoro is amazingly brave.
Since having a cardiac arrest in a PE lesson in front of his friends, being put in an induced coma and then recovering in hospital for weeks, he has been fitted with an internal defibrillator to stop another attack.
Despite all of this the formerly shy 16-year-old has shown huge courage in talking to his peers about how quick-thinking teachers and a defibrillator saved his life.
He has turned a life-changing incident into a positive campaign to help others and is now raising awareness of their importance. He is campaigning to make the first aid equipment compulsory in schools.
In January he will take his cause to Parliament. He has made his family incredibly proud and made the rest of us realise we can become complacent.
Some people might have struggled with confidence after what he has been through but he has managed to shine by focusing on helping others.
