Ed Balls will join staff behind the counter of a Hove coffee shop later.
The Shadow Chancellor of the Exchequer will meet with customers and baristas as he helps serve up coffees and teas at the Small Batch Coffee Company - an independent chain of coffee shops in Brighton and Hove.
Mr Balls will join Peter Kyle, Labour's parliamentary candidate in Hove, to also attend a meeting with local businesses and entrepreneurs.
Mr Kyle said: “We live in the most entrepreneurial city in the UK but that success is despite government, not because of it.
“I want to make this the best city in the country to do business, to hire local people, and thrive in the 21st Century economy.”
They are expected at 1.45pm at the Small Batch Coffee Company, 68 Goldstone Villas in Hove.
