BRIGHTON and Hove buses has unveiled its latest fleet – but these won’t be transporting passengers.

These pint-sized buses have been unveiled at Mile Oak Primary School and will be used to deliver new books throughout the school.

The buses were originally built eight years ago by friend of the school Peter Coleman, who died in 2011, and have recently been renovated by engineers at Brighton and Hove Bus and Coach Company. Four buses have been given the makeover with two of these presented to children on Friday.

The fleet leader has been painted in the livery of Brighton and Hove and comes with working lights and a display board, with the second bus named after Mr Coleman.

His widow Anne joined representatives of Brighton and Hove Buses and Michaela Morgan, author and reading patron of the school, on the day.

Bus driver and Mile Oak Primary School parent Sam Heselden led the initiative for the fleet upgrade along with the school’s deputy head Martin Cooper.

Mr Cooper said: “I am staggered by the efforts of Brighton and Hove Buses.

“The buses are spectacular and I was looking forward to seeing the faces of the pupils when they are presented with them.”
