FIREFIGHTERS were called out twice in one night to piles of Christmas trees apparently set alight.
Crews were called to Malling Recreation Ground, Lewes, and Hangleton Park, Hove, where the trees had been left for recycling.
A spokesman for East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service said the crews were called between 6pm and 7pm yesterday (Sunday January 11), and the fires appeared to be deliberate.
It was the second time firefighters had to deal with burning Christmas trees in Hangleton Park since the New Year, having also been called out last Sunday (January 4).
