A FIRE engine had to wait outside a block of flats for more than an hour while power engineers came to fix a faulty cable.
Two fire crews were sent to Brassey Parade in the Hampden Park area of Eastbourne at 4.25pm today, believing there was a fire.
On arriving, the fire turned out to be a sparking cable.
One crew left the scene but the other remained while UK Power Networks was summoned.
The fault was on a cable going into a property and engineers remained onsite until after 9pm.
A UK Power Networks spokeswoman said: “We are currently investigating whether the fault is on our equipment or to do with the customer's internal electrical wiring.”
