What a great evening!
Well done, Dominic VonTrapp, for finding a good venue and putting on such an eclectic mix of performers.
It was the first night so there were bound to be glitches; it was amusing watching people trying to figure out which plug went in which socket between acts. But the music was worth the wait.
Highlights: the John Parry Trio (bassist, pianist/vocalist and laptop computer), whose Tom Waits influences blended well with their electronic soundscapes; Miss Al Brown (Al Brown, vocals and Dan Lundholm, acoustic guitar) who made more soulful sounds than the line-up would suggest and could be big if they work on their presentation; and Dominic's band Sweet Sweet Lies, who produced listenable, hard-edged, pop-style music despite technical problems.
I hope they keep these evenings going. I'll be there every time.
