A CLOCK that was a thank-you gift from police for help arresting two men has been stolen.

The chiming clock belonged to the same family for 90 years but was taken from their home in a burglary last week.

It was given to Leonard King by the chief constable of Maidstone Borough Police after he helped a police officer to arrest two violent men on Boxing Day in 1925.

The dark wood clock was stolen from Mr King’s grandson in Netherfield, Battle, between 6pm on Thursday (January 15) and midday on Friday (January 16).

Police said the owners arrived home after an overnight stay to find the main door opened and items stolen including the clock.

The family is now offering a £100 reward for information that can help police to convict the offender.

The clock, pictured, has a rounded top and a large clock face on the front with a diamond shape engraving below and twisted spindles either side. It also has a brass plaque on the front.

Detective Constable Darren Jones said: "We would love to find the clock and reunite it with them so please get in contact with us if you saw anything suspicious in the area at that time or if you see a clock matching this description for sale in the local area.”
