A 25-year-old has raked in more than £2.6 million in just one year – by posting videos on the internet.

Brighton-based YouTube megastar, Felix Kjellberg, has amassed almost 34 million subscribers since starting his web channel in April 2010, with more than seven billion views of his videos.

Better known as his internet name, PewDiePie, he uploads videos of him playing video games and making “funny montages” from his bedroom.

He is the person with the most subscriptions on YouTube, with more followers than One Direction, Rhianna and Taylor Swift. The incredible statistic has seen him hailed ‘the King of the Internet’.

Mr Kjellberg is actually from Sweden but moved to Brighton in 2012 in order to get faster internet connection.

While many millions of fans log on to watch his computer game clips, his montage videos, many of which are shot in his Brighton home, are the most popular.

His most popular videos have been watched more than 61 million times.

His millions come from adverts shown before his clips.

Finbar Shepherd, 17, of Horsham, is an avid fan. He said: “His old videos were really funny, especially the montages. They were brilliant, really crazy and make you laugh.

“The reason he has so many subscribers is that he gives them a community, he has his own Wiki and Facebook pages where all the Bros chat to each other.”

His faithful subscribers call themselves Bros. But his fans caused him to have to move from one Brighton and Hove home to another when they tracked him down to his address.

Mr Shepherd added: “His Bro Army are very committed. They’re really into it. They seem a little crazy to be that into. It’s almost as if it’s a religion.”

Speaking about his fans to The Argus in 2013, Mr Kjellberg said: “They mainly just want to take a picture, which I’m more than happy to do.

“I don’t know why it’s such a big deal to meet me but some people are shaking. It’s really cute.”

His girlfriend, Marzia Bisognin, 22, from Italy, has also become popular on YouTube, with five million subscribers.

The young couple met online after she was encouraged by friends to watch his videos, eventually leading to him flying over to Italy.

Mr Kjellberg’s YouTube videos are managed by Marker Studio’s, who were bought by Disney last year for £660 million.
