A HEARTBROKEN mother has paid tribute to her football loving son who suddenly died this week.

University of Brighton student Jordan Flynn, 19, passed away late on Monday.

Jordan, originally from Wales, died from previously undiagnosed myocarditis – inflammation of the heart – and suffered a cardiac arrest.

The former Littlehampton Community School pupil had complained of feeling ill the Thursday before but sadly died just days later.

The dedicated Liverpool fan, nicknamed Welshy, was in the first year of a physical education teaching course at the university’s Eastbourne campus, which he started in October.

Scores of people have paid tribute to Jordan since his passing, including his mother Angela.

She told The Argus: “I was trying to think how I would describe my handsome smiling son Jordan, but really no words could do justice to his strength, determination, logic, humour and his beautiful soul. He was someone I always aspired to be. His bravery was in not telling me how serious his condition was, until I could get to him. His selflessness and love have left me speechless. He was my direction and always will be.

“Discovering that he was so special and well thought of by so many – not just our family makes me so, so proud.”

She added: “Jordan truly appreciated each day and the simplest things in life made him happy, like pranks, granola, football, his PlayStation and his bed.

“How he lived showed us that success is measured in how you live and not in what you have or do. His ordinary was our extraordinary, his beauty was in not knowing how truly amazing he was.”

Friends and university friends are holding a memorial for Jordan at the Eastbourne campus on Monday.

A message from the organiser read: “We ask please as per Jordan’s wishes that no one is to wear black as he wanted his life to be celebrated.”

Other friends also paid tribute online.

Will Garrow wrote on Twitter: “R.I.P @JordanFlynn96. Was an honour to have known you! You were taken too soon, all my love to your family and to you wherever you may be.”

Jack Seddon tweeted: “RIP Jordan. You made a lot of people smile and we will all miss you. Amazing lad, heaven just received a Welsh angel, love you bro.”

A spokesperson for the university said: “We were all deeply saddened to learn of Jordan’s death and our thoughts are with his family and friends at this time. We are offering support to course staff and to Jordan’s fellow students.”

His post mortem is due to be held next week.
