The schools admissions decision is good news. Overall, the new system seems to me to be the fairest for the city as a whole.
It looks likely to create more schools with children from a crosssection of the population, instead of reinforcing social division along financial grounds.
Currently, we have an increasingly two-tier system, which gives great advantage to very well-off families and is creating exclusive pockets of wealth as house prices are pushed up. This move will bring back a degree of social equality, which can only be good for Brighton and Hove's future.
I want my daugter to go to a school where she will cross paths with children from all walks of life.
Hopefully, she will
