Ashley Reid, student governor at City College Brighton and Hove

DURING my two years at City College Brighton and Hove I have enjoyed my time thoroughly, as many of my classmates and friends have too.

Right from the get go all the staff I have encountered have been friendly and only have you and your experience here in mind.

The college is extremely diverse in terms of both age range of learners and ethnicity, comparing this to what I have heard from many friends and passers-by City College is leagues ahead of the other colleges in the area; such as Varndean and BHASVIC.

They said the college “is so much more friendly and diverse”.

To say that this college values its students as a top priority is an understatement.

The college does many things for both the students who attend it and the community that surrounds it, having close links to apprenticeships which are vital for the students and local businesses.

As well as this, the college tries to do as much as possible for local and national charities.

For example last year the student committee managed to raise approximately £4,000 for the Rockinghorse children’s charity – the charity wing of the Royal Alexandra Children’s Hospital. This helped massively as the money raised went to build a purpose built unit for afflicted teenagers.
