A CAR crashed into the window of a fish and chip shop on Saturday night.
The black Ford Fiesta, driven by a 31-year-old woman from Worthing, had crashed with a grey Toyota Corolla on Marine Parade, Worthing, before careering into the Harry Ramsden’s restaurant at 8pm on Saturday.
The driver and the front seat passenger in the Toyota - a 22-year-old man from Pulborough – were bruised but neither required hospital treatment and no-one in the restaurant was injured.
The Toyota driver Charles George Smith, 24, of High Bar Lane, Thakeham, Pulborough, was unhurt and was arrested on suspicion of drink-driving and later charged.
Police accuse him of having 54 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath with the legal limit being 35mcgs.
He was released on bail to appear at Worthing Magistrates’ Court on March 30.
