A DENTIST has been suspended after he “breached fundamental tenets of the profession” and put his patients at risk.

Pourrezaei Akhlaghi, who lives in Cromwell Place, Hove, put his patients "at unwarranted risk of harm", caused "avoidable harm” and failed to disclose he was under investigation for misconduct and his fitness to practice, the General Dental Council (GDC) ruled.

It said the dentist had not told East Sussex Downs and Weald Primary Care Trust he was being investigated.

It also said he was guilty of a breach of trust and "abuse of position for financial gain and dishonesty".

It added he failed to comply with the regular and did “bring the profession into disrepute” through his misconduct.

Mr Akhlaghi will be struck off the register in about 28 days, unless he appeals against the ruling, and has been immediately suspended.

A spokesman for the GDC said: “The Committee considered that in the absence of insight and remediation there is a real risk that Mr Pourrezaei Akhlaghi is liable in the future to place patients at unwarranted risk of harm, bring the profession into disrepute, breach fundamental tenets of the profession and act dishonestly.”
