For four years we have had a Green council. For four years we have had to put up with roadworks, congestion and disruption and they expect residents of Brighton and Hove to put up with this for another five years.

We have already had major disruption to Old Shoreham Road, Seven Dials, Brighton Station, Lewes Road, the Vogue Gyratory, Edward Street and it’s still going on.

Next they want to mess with the Valley Gardens and the aquarium roundabout, including removing the Mazda electric fountain at the bottom of North Road.

How dare they? They tell us all these works are funded by the government but council taxpayers have to pay a percentage.

But they complain they have to make cuts to frontline services, and yet they waste so much on pet non-essential projects.

What with their draconian parking charges and attempting to get the highest council tax in the country, filling up our city streets with all manner of clutter, it’s hardly surprising that many Green councillors are not standing for re-election.

They must be embarrassed by all the negative publicity from the local and national media.

I won’t even start about recycling, travellers, the state of the roads, Preston park cycle track and Madeira Drive arches.

Unfortunately when the Greens have hopefully long gone the residents will be left with it as what is done cannot be undone, can it?
