So Conservative councillor Graham Cox wants a referendum on two of the council tax options in front of Brighton and Hove City Council (Argus, February 25).
This in the full knowledge that the Greens’ 5.9% proposal would inevitably be voted down which would then cost, according to the Argus, an extra £1.85million.
So the so-called party of “sound finance” would end up costing the local taxpayer almost £2 million.
Add to this the Tories’ support for the Greens’ i360, which will put the city £36 million in debt, plus the hugely disruptive redevelopment of Valley Gardens and we see a reckless attitude to local finances and infrastructure which could cost the city dear.
