More schools than ever will see their pupils hitting the stage at a dancing bonanza.

The yearly Let’s Dance event – a celebration of school and community dance – kicked off at the Brighton Dome last night .

Children from 78 schools will be taking to the stage this week as each school puts on their own unique dance spectacular.

The week-long show will see 2,500 children hitting the stage as different schools perform each evening– followed by two nights of the Dorothy Stringer Dance Show on Friday and Saturday.

Jo Wait, event organiser from Stringer, said: “The children all absolutely love it – it is magical, especially for the younger ones who have never got the opportunity to perform at the Dome.

"By the time they get to us after rehearsals they are all so excited and I cannot believe all their professionalism.

"There is no theme this year and every school can do what they want and pick their own song.”

The Argus will be publishing pictures from each performance every day this week and hundreds of photos are available to purchase.
