He did not enter a plea and was remanded in custody to appear at Guildford Crown Court this afternoon for another hearing.

Miss Müller’s was found in the boot of a burning car shortly after 2pm on Friday in Rusper Road near Ifield Golf Club in Crawley.

Firefighters attending the scene made the discovery after a member of the public reported the car on fire.

A post-mortem said the 21-year-old, who was a University of Brighton student studying on the Eastbourne campus, was alive in the car when it was set alight. It said she died of smoke inhalation.
