One of the most important decisions facing the city in a generation will be taken on March 23, The Argus can reveal.

A council source said a special meeting of Brighton and Hove's planning sub-committee would be held on March 23 to decide whether to grant planning permission for the controversial King Alfred redevelopment.

The committee will meet just two days after public consultation on the most recent planning bid ends.

Developer Karis hopes to build 751 homes and a new sports complex to replace the leisure centre on Hove seafront.
